Rock a Nore Kitchen opened in 2014, The Kitchen has grown in reputation by providing locally caught fish dishes using its “boat to plate” philosophy.
One our favourite spots, but is also recommended by the Guardian, Telegraph, Time Out, Hardens Food Guide, London Evening Standard and the Rough Guide as a must visit for expertly cooked local catch of the day.

Wrap & Weft is a boutique and atelier housed in a sumptuously restored Victorian building. Exactingly refurbished by Leida a wonderful lady and fulfilling her vision of an all-enveloping, perfumed creative space, the layered interiors serve as a glorious backdrop to her meticulously designed and sourced textiles, objects, accessories, men’s and women’s clothing, made to order and fully bespoke tailoring.
I have bought many items from Leida and it is always a joy to drop in and see the new season and what the shop has available. I have even had items made in fabric I want and that is always a lovely process particularly here.

Alastair lives in a converted warehouse space in Shoreditch, London, designed by himself, which has been featured in various programmes on BBC television and in many books, newspaper supplements and magazines throughout the world. His more recent interiors projects are the restoration of his various Grade ll Listed properties in Hastings, UK, including his store and restaurant A G Hendy & Co.

Old Hastings Pottery
East Hill Cliff Railway
The UK’s steepest funicular railway is not only a structure of national importance but also a source of immense local pride.
The East Hill Lift provides access to Hastings Country Park which overlooks the Old Town and Rock-a-Nore. It was in the country park that Hastings resident John Logie Baird, the inventor of television, got the inspiration which led to his first TV experiments.
The lift provides views over the Stade, home to the largest beach launched fishing fleet in Europe.
Battle Abbey
On this spot in the year 1066, the armies of King Harold and William the Conqueror clashed at the Battle of Hastings.
Now you can stand on the very site where this decisive struggle was fought and England’s future decided.
Explore abbey ruins and meet the Normans and Saxons on our sculpture trail. Enjoy the gatehouse exhibition revealing the abbey’s role in the country’s future, then head to the roof for stunning views of the battlefield. Allow the stories of battle to unfold and discover its atmosphere for yourself.
